Composition
Pinaverium bromide 50 mg; tablets.
Indications
Symptomatic treatment of pain, bowel disturbances and intestinal discomfort associated with
irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Symptomatic treatment of pain associated with biliary functional disorders. Preparation for barium enema.
Contraindications
Obstructive disease of the esophagus and the gastrointestinal tract, paralytic ileus, intestinal atony of elderly or
debilitated patients, severe ulcerative colitis, toxic megacolon, myasthenia gravis, known hypersensitivity to pinaverium bromide.
Pregnancy and Lactation
Pregnancy: No teratogenic effect has been reported during the studies in animal. Since there are no clinical data in man,
the risk is not known. It is safer to refrain from using this drug during pregnancy.
Lactation: In the absence of study, avoid using this drug during lactation.
Side Effects / Precautions / Warnings
Rare cases of minor digestive disorders.
Dosage and Administration
Adults: The posology is 3 to 4 tablets daily to be taken with an adequate quantity of water during meals.
A single dose for the preparation of barium enema.
Several doses throughout the day for the other indications.
This dosage may exceptionally be increased up to 6 tablets a day. The tablets should be ingested without chewing or sucking, with an adequate
amount of liquid (e.g. a glass of water) during meals. The tablet should not be swallowed when in a lying position or just before bedtime.
